A ELSA UMinho convida toda a comunidade académica e elsiana a participar no Curso Básico de Medicina Legal com o Prof. Pinto da Costa.

ELSA Lithuania invites you to the international BOAT TRIP on 4th – 6th July.

ELSA Lithuania boat trip is an annual event which totally kicks out people from civilization and daily routine. This year we are proud to announce that it will be an international event therefore ELSA Lithuania is eager to have as many participants as possible. Undoubtedly it is good opportunity to get to know each other better and spend unforgettable weekend. You can expect everything, including lakes, rivers, shoals, tumbled trees (thus you will not only swim but also carry our boat). You will visit the most beautiful place created by nobody else but nature and even more - come and explore beauties of nature with us and ELSA spirit!

The ELSA House Training Week (EHTW) is an annual event taking place at the headquarters of ELSA International in Brussels.

It is a weeklong experience touching all levels of ELSA – Local, National and International. The event aims at deepening the participants' ELSA knowledge, improving their personal skills, and familiarising them with Brussels - the heart of Europe.

The EHTW is open to all ELSA members, whether you are an experienced member or a fresher. It is your chance to meet people from all over Europe, learn new things or refresh your knowledge on the Association. You will discover all the opportunities an ELSA membership offers, and at the same time you get to visit the Capital of Europe, have a great time and discover the international aspect of ELSA.

Academic Programme
The Academic Programme includes training sessions facilitated by the trainers from the International Trainers' Pool. The training sessions will discuss important issues of ELSA. In addition, the programme includes trainings in personal skills, such as communication, project management, team building, presentation skills, negotiation skills, public speaking etc. The participants will also get the chance to visit some of the European Institutions.

Social Programme
This is your chance to visit Brussels with its famous attractions such as the Atomium, the Manneken Pis, the Royal Palace, Grand Place, the ELSA House and much more! Sightseeing in one of the most beautiful cities of Belgium is also included.

An amazing social programme is planned, including great parties, Belgian beer tasting, disco nights and much more. You will meet participants from all over Europe and learn about their culture, and of course get to taste the famous Belgian chocolate!

A ELSA UInternacional da Figueira da Foz em conjunto com a Universidade Internacional da Figueira da Foz, promove uma Conferência sob a égide do Exmo. Senhor Doutor José Luís da Cruz Vilaça, antigo Presidente do Tribunal de Primeira Instância da União Europeia e Ilustre Regente da Disciplina de Direito Comunitário nesta Instituição, subordinada ao tema "Tratado de Lisboa - Uma Constituição para a Europa?", a ter lugar no próximo dia 26 de Fevereiro de 2008.
A mesma decorrerá no Auditório da Universidade e terá início às 15h e prolongar-se-á até às 17h.

A Conferência terá início com um conjunto de cinco intervenções sobre as seguintes temáticas:

1) Uma Europa Mais Eficiente ?

Discurso a cargo do Professor Doutor José Luís da Cruz Vilaça, antigo Juíz do TJCE, Fundador e 1.º Presidente do Tribunal de Primeira Instância da UE;

2) Uma Europa com um Projecto Federalista ?

Discurso a cargo do Professor Doutor Adriano Moreira, ex-Ministro, reconhecido especialista em relações internacionais e questões políticas e ex-Presidente do CDS-PP;

3) Uma Europa de Direitos e Valores, de Liberdade e Solidariedade ?

Discurso a cargo do Dr. Pedro Madeira Froufe, especialista em Direito Comunitário e professor na Escola de Direito da Universidade do Minho;

4) Uma Europa Mais Democrática e Transparente ?

Discurso a cargo do Doutor José Pacheco Pereira, comentador, político, historiador e professor universitário;

5) Uma Europa como Actor na Cena Mundial ?

Discurso a cargo do Dr. Luís Amado, Ministro de Estado e dos Negócios Estrangeiros.

Estas intervenções decorrerão entre as 14 e as 16h30m, às quais se seguirá um intervalo de 10 minutos.

Após estas prelecções iniciais, o debate prosseguirá, de um modo mais informal, numa mesa redonda, com os seguintes convidados:

Dear ELSA Members,

Pursuant to the invitation from WIPO, ELSA International will send an observer delegation to the 1^st Session of the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property(CDIP) which will take place at the headquarter of WIPO, in Geneva, Switzerland, from the 3^rd to the 7^th March 2008.

The ELSA participants in the Delegation to this Session of WIPO will have to undertake the following activities:

• Represent ELSA International;
• Observe proceedings of the session (attend the meetings);
• Carry out legal research in the framework of the Session on the relevant legal topics;
• Distribute the revised editions of the relevant ELSA materials to other delegations and organisations;
• Attend briefings and meetings organised by the Head of the ELSA Delegation and report to the Head of Delegation all activities carried out;
• Forward all the contacts made during the session to ELSA International, to ensure that the whole ELSA Network will benefit from them;
• Give feedback to the Association by: submitting a report to ELSA International within a month after the end of the session; filling out a questionnaire and send it together with the report; being available to give a presentation to requesting Local Groups in the applicant's country.

ELSA International will not facilitate the travel or other arrangements of subsistence of any members of the ELSA delegation. All arrangements surrounding travel, accommodation and daily subsistence costs are the exclusive responsibility of the participants themselves. However, ELSA International can assist the participants by providing, upon request, Recommendation Letters for fundraising purposes in their countries, or Invitation Letters for those who need a visa to enter the Swiss territory.

The International Board 2007-2008

LIII International Council Meeting - Lisbon, Portugal - 30th March - 6th April 2008

Como sabem, o 53.º ICM (International Council Meeting) irá decorrer em Lisboa, entre 30 de Março e 6 de Abril de 2008.

O ICM é o órgão decisório máximo da ELSA a nível internacional.
Todas as decisões relevantes para a vida da associação são tomadas durante a realização deste evento.

Este Conselho realiza-se duas vezes por ano e congrega, em média, para cima de 300 estudantes e jovens licenciados em Direito, originários de estados europeus tão díspares como o Reino Unido, Lituânia, Suíça ou Macedónia.

Os participantes estão divididos por delegações nacionais, estando esta reunião magna, ao nível do seu funcionamento, organizada em três plenários, onde são votadas todas as propostas levadas a debate.
Além destes plenários, por uma questão de maior agilidade procedimental, os trabalhos decorrem durante a semana que dura este evento, num esquema de workshops, divididos pelas diferentes áreas da ELSA, sendo os respectivos relatórios objecto de aprovação no Plenário Final.

Role of the International Court of Justice in Resolving Territorial Problems

ELSA Odesa, in UKRAINE, is honoured to invite you to the 1st International Conference on:
"Role of the International Court of Justice in Resolving Territorial Problems"

The aim of the conference is to involve students and young lawyers in discussion of current international law problems and to acquaint them with the practice of the International Court of Justice of resolving territorial disputes.

The conference implies participants' speeches, their discussion, debates with participation of prominent experts in the sphere of international public law.

Specialists from leading universities, representatives of regional department of Odesa National Strategic Analysis Institute, representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Odesa region and General Romanian Embassy in Odesa are invited to participate in the conference.
